Tapper

A number of years ago I backed the ill-fated Blacklist Miniatures Fantasy boxset (ill-fated in that I don't think they ever managed to deliver it to their North American backers). It's a great set with many miniatures that would/could be great for any miniatures focused fantasy RPG (D&D, Pathfinder etc).

I've been going through it for some inspiration for NPCs for my next D&D campaign and found one. I had wanted a tavern to be a key location in the early campaign, especially when the players were establishing their characters as local heroes. Amongst the clusters of standard fantasy beasties (wolves, zombies, goblins) there were a selection of PC/NPC minis. Most were classic combinations of fantasy race/class you might expect to find in an RPG; Dwarf Cleric, Elf Ranger, Gnome Wizard, Human Fighter. But one chap caught my eye. Perhaps he could be used as a player character but to me he stood out as an obvious, but still brilliant, tavernkeeper.

After priming him white, I was all set to paint him up as a human, until I realised I had some Army Painter Ghillie Dew Speedpaint that I'd been dying to try out (in my continuing journey to find the "perfect green"). And just like that, this happy chap became a half-orc.

In naming him I went to the (2014) Player's Handbook and under suggested male names for half-orcs they had Henk. Perfect, I thought. Fantasy enough, but so very close to something like Hank to give a familiar feeling. And his surname was easy enough, I'm a sucker for old-school vocational names. A barrel maker named Cooper. An arrow maker named Fletcher. A roofer named Thatcher. Hence, this fella will henceforth be Henk Tapper.

Now, a someone like old Henk here needs a good partner in life and it just so happens I think I have the perfect person...
